Im trying to go to work this morning but my clutch feels weird it gets stuck when i push it all the way down and it wont let me shift to gears. Do i need clutch fluid, or is my clutch out? Or is it something else? Please help

 

Sounds like either the master or slave cylinder to me. One of the two being worn may cause the pedal to get stuck like that.

 

soo what do i have to do to fix it, because my car wont shift to gears and i cant drive it, and how much is it going to cost?

i had this happen to me in my old 95 ls. i believe your problem isn't as bad, but my clutch felt the same as yours, but i couldn't switch into any other gears. i had to turn off my car, then switch gears as it was rolling, turn the car back on, accelerate, turn it back off, switch gears again. over and over to get it to a shop. the master and slave cyclinders were shot, needed a new clutch, and the throw out bearing was completely done. i'd say about $750 for a shop to do with stock replacement parts. if you want a badass clutch you'd be looking at at least $900. hope this helps? good luck!

 

ok i just checked my transmission fluid and it seems very low. Could i just put new transmisson fluid in it to get it starting normal again?

 

It doesn't even cost $60 bucks nowadays to find out what's wrong with your car.

i experienced the same feeling when my master cylinder went out. an easy way to tell is look under the dash where the master cylinder connects to the clutch pedal. when mine was shot i saw fluid leaking down from the master.

Also check the slave cyl. If you look under the hood, its to the left of the header...at the junction of the trans and engine block. Check that for leakage or a damaged seal.

Both are pretty easy to fix. I've changed them 2x on my integra, once on my brother's Civic, and twice on my dad's Accord.

Edit: another way to test is to pump the clutch several times (while the car is off) and see if the pedal gets stiffer. That'll let you know there is a leak in the hydraulic system (master/slave cyl or lines)

 

thia may sound stupid but when i was working at honda a customer came in complainig that her car was doing the same thing and after days of checking i noticed that she put new floor mats in her car but they didnt fit. n when she depressed the pedal it wouldnt come back up. i know its silly but just some food for thought.

 

my clutch feels soft too. I changed everything though clutch flywheel, new slave sylinder, master cylinder, new fluid with flush, and my clutch still feels soft. But when i shift it hits real hard.

when i mean hard. i mean hard. then again i have inserts. and coilovers and everything else. but it feels good.

as far as ur problem. it sounds like the master or slave cylinder, just change it to new. new is always better.

i turned off my car and pumped my clutch and it didnt get hard

 

check your slave and master cylinder for leaks, check fluids and bleed the system.

fill your tranny fluid and check to see if your leaking oil from the driveaxle oil seals.

 

i have the same problem. every 2 weeks i have to fill my clutch fluid resovoir with fluid cause it keeps leaking. check your drivers side floor mats for leaks, thats where mine leaks from .

 

This actually happened to me...right now. I'm in the process of fixing cause I'm in college right now, but the first thing my friends helped me with was to bleed the clutch fluid with Dot 3 Fluid.

Then, we changed the slave cylinder....I can get into gear now and drive, but my clutch is still soft. I'm replacing my clutch with an Exedy Stage 2 Clutch next week, so I'll let you know what the outcome of my car is.

Fix small things like the slave cylinder and just fill your fluid, but my buddy who works at a shop said that it could also be a bad tranny. Honda trannys and their 3rd gears, not so good.

I got the Exedy Stage 2 Clutch kit for my LS, but it doesn't come with the flywheel. I'm resurfacing my flywheel. I'll let you know

 

before you buy a new clutch, check to see if your master cyl is low on fluid. this also happened to me. when i pushed down the clutch, it stayed against the floor and wouldnt come back up. i had a leak and had to keep filling up the master cyl. just get some dot3 brake fluid and fill it up and then pump the clutch with you hand a few times to see if the clutch pedal gets pressure again.

 

get a repair manual and follow he diagnostic steps.

From now on, just for a quick fix, just don't let the fluid run low. Check up on it.

 

Clutch is installed, but there is still a little play in my pedal. I might have to replace my clutch master cylinder
