Please don't.

Get Simple Green outdoors mix and go half/half with water

Or I used purple power and it came out well

Yea, don't use brake clean. Not only will it eat any of the paint in your engine bay and damage your rubber hoses, but it also will take a lot of it to clean the engine bay since it doesn't "rinse" well. Like Muffin said, get some Simple Green and dilute it to a 50/50 with water or use Foamy Engine Brite (made by Gunk). Both products work really well.
