Default Want to rebuild GSR to run like stock

I have used the search feature to no avail since most people doing this kind of work want more power

I have a 1994 GSR motor obd1 and it burns a little oil at the pistons or rings. I want to rebuild it to run like stock, ie no extra HP or extra fuel consumption. I also want many more years of reliability.

I plan to replace the following while I do this:
-bearings
-rings
-possibly pistons
-arp head bolts
-oil pan and gasket
-head gasket and some related top end gaskets, most are brand new with around 1000 miles on them, including the head gasket but it would be dumb to not replace the head gasket

My question is what is a good place to get rings, headgasket, and bearings and possibly pistons should I just order through Acura to suit my needs or does anyone have any better ideas?

Also does anyone have any other ideas of items I should take care of while in there. My motor currently purrs like a kitten, idles fine, gets good gas mileage. It just burns oil

Head gasket/bearings/pumps, oem. Pistons and rings, RS Machines.

I would suggest you buy an extra short block, build it up, then sell your stocker to save on the down time. That's what I did.

consider downtime of at least a solid weekend. my "weekend" turned into a solid week.

as for parts, if you're juuuust wanting to do a rebuild for reliability, i'd just get OEM acura parts from:

http://www.acuraoemparts.com

http://www.oemacuraparts.com/

some parts can be had from majestic honda (google for the website) and sons acura in GA... pm user "len" or just ask for len... that' who i went with.

i'd definitely replace all your major gaskets, cam plug, rear main seal, timing belt (and tensioner), oil pump, and water pump.

if you've got a lot of miles, you're burning oil, and you're tearing into the block already, sure get upgraded pistons (p30 or p73) and, of course, rings. you may want to consider getting (OEM) rod and main bearings. ACL and other "generic" bearings will generally be just "green" bearings and won't be specific to your crank and rods. that's it for your bottom end, really. as for your head, i really wouldn't touch if if you're working on a budget. you may consider getting ITR/CTR cams for a bump in performance - but then adjust your valves (which you may want to do anyways). getting these cams won't require you to upgrade your valvetrain, which is great.

skip the upgraded head studs/bolts and use the money torwards tuning equipment and tuning. GL
