installing dynamat ??? (Opinions and Help)
?? i just bought a 15 inch Kicker L7 Solobaric and it make my prelude rattle like crazy will dynamat make tha rattling go away for sure or is it just a rumor?
Yeah dynamat is offically the ****. Its sound deadener. IF you put it in your cabin it gets so freaky quiet, but everything is crisp sounding. Your music sounds really good.
I've had similar problems with rattling. I recommend Raamat (www.raamaudio.com) over dynamat as I have found it performs as well or better for less money. I personally had to remove my trunk spring as that was a cause for rattle also and have since replaced it with 2 gas struts.
Although if you can get a deal on dynamat go for it. Adding mass is what you want to do to prevent vibrations. Good luck.

I put Dyanamat on my entire floor, back seat and all.
Did it make a difference? I don't think so.
I didn't do the doors, which i KNOW have a lot of sound coming threw them.
but if you can get behind the quarter panel,a lot of sound come threw there as well.

haha. Mabey a Bit.
But I had my whole truck and rear seats done with it because my subs vibrated everything. It took all the ratteling away, made the cabin quieter, and seriously everything was clearer.

I have my doors (inside panel and outside panel) quarter panels, under back seat, and entire trunk dynamatted.
The trunk kit got rid of all rattling and made my sub sound way more musical (ie no unrealistic rattling or wierd sounding vibrations)
My doors are 10 times quieter in fact I get next to no road noise out of them now. The one problem my doors being so quiet caused is now all my road noise is focused in the quarter panels. So last week I dynamatted them. I will say that it didnt do much for them, they are still the loudest point of the car, I guess from natural acoustics. Also there is a foam support in the armrest opening that I chose to leave in rather than mat over, I believe a bit of the sound is coming from that area.
Dynamat also makes a foam product called dynaliner, which I am going to try putting over the dynamat in my quarters. Dynamat is a sound deadener (stops vibrations), dynaliner is a sound suppressor (quiets the noise.) Dynaliner is about 1/3 the cost of dynamat extreme, and is installed on top of dynamat extreme.
edit: how the hell are you fitting a L7 15 in your trunk? I couldnt even fit a L7 12"
Are you firing it up towards your trunk lid? if so this would create excess rattling that almost nothing will solve.
I am now running a boston SPG555 in my lude, it is the largest sub I can fit without taking up tons of trunk space, and man is it loud.
