Default h22a4 swapped hatch. balancer belt removel and question

hey whats up, ok so yesterday i was driving down i95 and my balancer belt gave out and grabbed my timing belt and snapped both, so as everyone knows it bent every valve. well i am gonna rebuild the head and boost it this time. i am trying to find out if i have to use that second belt, i guess its the balancer belt. DO I HAVE TO USE THAT. i just dont feel like having this happen again. does that belt turn the oil pump or does it still get turned by the crank. and can anyone tell me if i can just leave it off and were i can find directions to doing this. what will be the outcome. thanks for any help.i really appreciate it

are you sure it bent valves? My friends T-belt broke on his H22, and it didn't bend valves.

anyways, make sure you upgrade to the H23 manual tensioner while you're in there.

edit** forgot to answer you Q. Yes you can just leave it off.
