MotoGP Pics Jerez .. Lots of pics, nice Hondas, great racing
Seeing as there is nothing going on with the car at the moment, as we are waiting on parts from Japan and Andres is probably on a beach somewhere soaking in the sun I think we can go off topic to some pics from the MotoGP in Jerez. I took over 300 pics so I have made a short 'highlights' version of all 3 races.
With the change of hour, and my phone deciding to make the switch on its own after I had already moved it back 1 hour, I ended up waking up at 6.30 rather than the 7.30 I was meant to wake up. This turned out to be great as we managed to avoid lots of the traffic on the way there. Drive up to Jerez was nice, little traffic on the roads with groups of bikes overtaking us on the way. However on arrival at the circuit everything changed! Traffic was insane! There was even traffic in the separate bike lane! Eventually we managed to find a parking space and set off walking to the track. With parking for 18,000 cars and 12,000 bikes I can only leave this to your imagination. People everywhere and the spanish 'ambiente' ripe in the air. Stalls selling burgers and chorizo (translator puts it as a highly spiced pork sausage - basically a sausage that is incredibly nice but goes down extremely badly on the stomach
) sandwiches at 9 am, not for me! Eventually we arrived at the circuit, after walking for about 15 mins, and the sound was amazing. The sound of those bikes is breathtaking, especially the GP bikes! I am normally quite good with loud noise etc but the GP bikes almost made me leave with a headache. When you get one lone bike its bearable, but bunched up they are absolutely insane!
The race of the day was the 250cc. Bautista and Simoncelli were wheel to wheel for the entire race, way ahead of the rest of the pack, only for Simoncelli to fall whilst carrying out an overtaking move in the final lap, taking Bautista out with him. Was a bad ending to a great race, as both riders had done more than enough to take the win, however it could be said that justice was done as neither rider deserved to come home 2nd.
The weather was perfect, warm with a couple of clouds giving some break from the sun. All in all it was a great day, excluding the fact that Pedrosa won the GP with Valentino coming 2nd, a result which had all the Spaniards delighted but was not one for my books. Apart from that and the hour plus to get out of the parking was an excellent experience that I would recommend to anyone. Now time to stop writing and off to the pics

Open session race day morning:

Valentino:

Our seats at the final corner - perfect seats as it turned out to be, all the action was happening here

125cc Race:
Notice the blue bike and the red bike that ran wide:

What happens next (view disturbed by the womans head!)

One rider decided he had not yet had enough

250cc
The kiss of death (though this time not so deadly as both riders managed to stay on 2 wheels)

Bautista / Simoncelli battle before they crashed out;

GP:
Lap 1: The noise was unbelievable!

Rossi passes Lorenzo (crowd silent, I go wild
)

Toseland and Dovizioso battle it out in the final corner, meanwhile Capirossi (blue) sneaks past both for 5th place:

And to finish off a picture of part of the bikes parking lot:

Enjoy

Loads of bikes .. over 12,000 in total & I think that was only one of the parkings!!!
Was absolutely crazy - when you see a traffic jam in a motorway exit (2 lanes) compiled entirely of bikes is when you realise just how incredibly crazy it all actually is
