Default aftermarket IM [searched]

searched and researched, but i haven't found much information... my question is, what kind of performance gains are there by buying an aftermarket IM such as skunk2, blox, edelbrock, etc...? is it worth the time/money?

the dyno is about right.. are u expected to gain a lot hp by just bolt on an aftermarket intake manifold?

of course its worth the money but you have to do the back-up mods for it to get the most power..

ex. your putting a bigger IM on the engine to get the most out of it, you will need to upgrade an intake system, throttlebody, header, and exhaust... you need to do that so the flow stays kinda even for the intake and exhaust... also you would need a tune...

my grandpop always explained it to me like this. "an engine is like a pump, the faster the air goes in and the faster it goes out, the faster you go" if that dont make sense its cause hes a hippie haha

Really not worth it unless you get a big turbo and go with the Victor X.

If you want to replace the manifold and go N/A, then you should get an aftermarket cam and some high compression pistons.

Trust me you just wont be satisfied otherwise.

u can get elderbrock peformer x intake manifold but u have to port match its gain 10-14 WHP compare to ITR

here is the link dyno comparison for intake manifold https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=2012979

of course will get higher hp with cam and higher compression pistons but better intake and bigger throttle also will help on high rpm range but for most cost effective was intake manifold

Stick with the stock manifold and spend the money on a port match and polish. You'll get better results for the same cost. D16Y8 is the D-series "type-r" manifold. Fat and short runners for best flow. If your on a D-series get that.

i am currently running megan racing headers, cai, 2.5 piping, high flow cat/muffler, and a chipped ecu, i was just asking about an IM... i was going to get it tuned after i upgraded my camshaft and valvetrain.

and one of the main reasons for my post was im planning on upgrading my IM, and im trying to figure out if i want to work on my head or keep putting bolt-ons on... so i think im going to hold off on the IM untill after im done building and squeeze it somewhere between rods/pistons and boosting.
