Default ACURA Dealerships in NJ/Tri-state Are

I'm planning on taking my R for service. Any suggetions on which ones I can go to, without worrying about my car. Last time I took my car to a dealership (Montclair Acura) I didnt have a pleasant experience.

Oh yeah my car is grinding when I down shift from 5th to 4th between 80-90mph. Is this natural? Never had this problem b4. Any info would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

I don't think the grinding is normal
you may try to change the tranny oil to see if it will improve the situation.

P.S. I'm 2 number ahead of you ........ You're the closest R (in number) I've ever found so far

Are you rev matching? If not, and you force it in, its going to grind and keep getting worse as you wear down the syncro's.

That's consistent with my own experience at Montclair Acura.

Maybe someone here can recommend someplace else in the area...

a sign of possible syncro wear.... try double clutching / rev matching.

either way I'd get it checked out anyhow.

Acura of Ramsey is good. Tom is the service mediator there. Great guy.

So is Acura of Denville. I know the owner and hes a head mechanic in the place. He does good work, but sometimes can be a ********.

HTH!

if you can hit Greenwich Acura in CT. They have done alot of great work on my car . I needed to get an allignment and they couldnt do it with my wheel/tires, but they hand washed my car for FREE!!!! It was awsome!! After the mess i had with Bedford Hills, Greenwich was a great change. Oh and they have a crap load of NSX that they service so their guys are top notch.

Stay away from the following:

Acura of Denville - dumb *****!!
Acura of Wayne - Stoopid mechanics
Acura of Montclair - Aholes

I like Acura of Sommerville. All the good Honda mechanics try to get a job there because they seem to be the most knowledegable and actually have some history with honda motors.

They replaced my motor and the car is rock solid.

Don't know much about Ramsey.

Sussman Acura in Mt. Laurel is good to go to. After its fixed, they make sure your car is in the same way you brought it to them. When I got my new wheels and had my tires mounted, they even called me up to let me know that there would be a chance that the wheel could be scratched because the tires were low profile. When I got the wheels back, everything was still perfect.

Precision Acura of Princeton is the way to go...they've been nice to me while I lived in NJ and didn't care about all of the mods I did to the car (if this fits your case)...I bought the car there and the guys there are great!

Montgomeryville(sp?) Acura in PA is a pretty good place. i was told they have one of the best service departments in the US.
there are also cool since it only took them 10 minutes to find me a car.
