Transmission fluid capacity question??
I have a 2002 s2000 and it didn't come with a owners manual... I wanted to change my fluids but I can't find the capacity for the the tranny anywhere.. I found a nice write up on the diff. fluid change that gave me exact amounts to use and the right size tools to use for the job. If anyone knows where to find these specs please hook it up!!
you insert as much fluid as it take to fill the trans up to the filler bolt. when fluid starts coming out of the filler hole you stop and let it leak until it stops on its own.
the car needs to be level for this process.

heres a link to the ap1's service manual:

drain the old fluid out of the drain hole, open the fill plug and just put manual trans fuild in until it start to come out of the fill hole...as long as you can stick your finger in the fill hole and feel fluid, then you are at the right level.

trans is around 1.5-2quarts. So buy 2 (duh).
Diff is around .8quarts.
2qts HONDA MTF.
1qt. garden variety of your choice 80W-90 gear lube WITH GL-5 CERT. AND MAKE SURE IT'S A HYPOID LUBE (GL5 and hypoid lube goes hand in hand, though). Get close. Sometimes, 80w-90 is hard to come by in synthetic. So 75W-90 is fine. Do not get a fluid with LSD additives or any type of friction modifier. Just regular *** hypoid gear lube. Synthetic if you want it.
Put the car on jack stands. Play "the level" by the raconteurs if you need to. Play some Super Mario and get to the last level. Buy a level. Level out your desk. Try to level with some punk kids. The word level doesn't make sense anymore does it? Is that even a word? Level? Anyway, make sure the car is LEVEL.
1.) Remove both fill plugs first. For the love of God.
2.) Remove drain plugs, let drain into bucket or baby seal's mouth, or bucket made from baby seal's mouth.
3.) Buy a syringe pump. It makes everything much easier.
4.) Fill trans up till it starts leaking out of the fill plug. Dont over fill it or it will most likely leak past the seal.
5.) Fill the diff. The diff has like a 24mm drain plug and a 22mm fill plug or something insane.
6.) Try to get new crush washers to put on the plugs.
7.) Look up the torque values for the plugs. Dont over tighten the plugs when reinstalling.
7.) Dont over tighten the plugs when reinstalling.
8.) Dont over tighten the plugs when reinstalling.
9.) Stop turning the wrench so hard. You're over tightening the plugs.
