2009, still no word?
I searched, found one old thread asking about this... so here I am.
As some (probably none unless you happen to be in 8thcivic texas forums often) of you may know I am looking into the FA5 business. However, I am curious to see what changes, if any, will happen to the coupe/sedan after this year. I don't want to get a sedan to do the jdm conversion only to find out most of it might be happening to the sedan in 09 anyways... which I doubt, but who knows.
The only thing I could see happening with reasonable probability is HIDs for the civics. Lots of toyotas are getting them, Nissans have them, hell even hyundais are getting them. I think its time Honda step up its markets.
In any case, does anyone know ANYTHING? Heard any 'real' rumors? Besides "Its getting a turbo and AWD and OMG BREMBO!!!1"

09 civics will get projector halogen lights like the new scion xb's and LED tail lights. there will also be two new colors. pearl white and some kind of silver.
You're sure of these? Any references? Pearl white would look nice in contrast to taffy, but i still like taffy.
Another silver? Seems unnecessary, unless they are going to rid us of GG.

ok... well the guy from the link i posted works for Honda too. So I guess we're back to square one and we don't know anything for sure. And just cause he's an engineer doesn't mean he knows for sure. He's not in charge of deciding what cars get what features.

That's kinda what engineers do.

my friend's dad works for mitsubishi and that is what he does. He is one of the ones that decides what parts to put in each car and what features each car will get. But he is not an engineer. I would say an engineer takes the parts someone else says to use, and the engineer designs a package and figures out how to arrange each part so that it fits in the design of the car.

No, that's not what engineers do. They are given specs and asked to design to spec within a certain set of criterias such as cost. Who gets to decide what goes into what are usually the business team and the marketing team, NOT the engineers.

engineers get 'preproduction' cars to run quality testing on well before the public gets it. having lived by detroit, I saw hella new cars before they hit the showrooms. so a honda engineer would know what's coming...

Depends on what the engineers job is. There are MANY kinds of engineers, some of which don't really ever see the model they are working on. They may design a steering system, or some sort of part of the car, but there is probably a select few who actually get to implement designs and test them.

Not necessarily. I think there's probably someone who writes up the plans, while an engineer decides on how it'll work and how to integrate it.
I'm going to be really, really bummed if a new pearl white is in fact slated for the 09s+. That was the one color I had wanted the most and 'settled' for a taffy (still love the color).

i have it on good authority from my sisters hair dresser's cousin's nephew's baby's momma's aunt that honda is in preproduction of the first ever v8 civic!!!! now, if u believe this, please delete urself from the board and teh planet!!! doubt that honda will ever come up with HIDs. seems to leave that to acura to raise the damn market segmentation for them. ********
