Local upholstry shop?

If just foam, I'm sure it can be cut from a block of foam.

It's been covered recently here, OP. Do a search.
(In your case Dave, make it a short search).

Really? how do you think the restore hot rods that you can't buy the foam for these days? They MAKE IT. Yes, you can buy blocks of foam that are the same density.

So yes, if you just read what I wrote as go to Wal Mart, buy a block of foam and cut it, then on you. You have to go to the upholstry shop and get it, or find another source for it.

<--- has seen, and had foam made for a 66 mustang. Will have to go the same route for the old WW2 era ******* Jeep we have in the shop as well that is getting a total restoration.

No doubt people do it, when they need to. The time/effort involved would be cost prohibitive even compared to dealer price. Go ahead, cut a foam block to match what you can buy from acura..... i'd love to see it.

Thanks for the , i appreciate it. Those '66 mustangs sure do have sweet bucket seats.

First off the was a general statement and not directed toward anyone in general.

The OP wanted other ideas and after chatting via PM, the price for the foam he wants is $400. To me that's outrageous for seat foam. Now after talking more and thinking it through, just get foam from another seat.

As for the 66 having bucket seats, in OE format they don't... who says it's stock or even the original seats?

So back on topic... try the seat foam from a regular integra and if your happy, stick to that route. If not and it's cheaper why not look into the option of having it done? Who says it has to be Acura's foam? There are so many options you could do. I'm sure upholsters that do this all the time don't buy their **** from a dealer.

1. Go to wrecking yard.
2. Find a teggy.

The seat foam is just as good as new unless the upolstery is torn and it's been exposed to sunlight or is like thirty years old.
And don't listen to Dave B. He molests collies.

the only drawback to this idea, it that ITR's have a different seat bottom cushion density than regular integras....and I believe the thigh bolsters are cut differently also....

it looks like the foam sells for $251 part # 17

http://www.acuraoemparts.com/d...ch=no

for some reason sonsacuraparts website is not coming up, they may sell it cheaper

You were looking at parts breakdown in above link, did you see a separate listing for a Type-R pad? I had a '97 GSR & a '98 ITR. Same pad density, same shape. OP just go to a wrecking yard.

Seating

The front seats feature fore/ aft and rake adjustment, in addition to a driver's seat lumbar adjustment for proper back support. The deeply bolstered seat has three different densities of foam in its construction to provide proper anatomical support for the driver's comfort, even after many hours behind the wheel. The Type R's exclusive upholstery scheme offers a racing-oriented feel and high traction with the center portion working to hold the driver in place while providing excellent breathability.
The rear seats are designed to keep the occupants at a comfortable position with regard to back rake and angle of the bottom cushion. The rear seat is equipped with two 3-point seat belts.

but is that only for the drivers side? because the passenger seat pads have the SAME number for all integras, R included.... ive searched tons and i have a buddy that works at acura checking for me as well........ as far as we can tell the drivers seat foams are the same for all integras but for some reason the non-R foams come with an extra piece, therefore requiring a new part number

just doesnt seem logical to me that the drivers and passenger seats would have different density foams.....

im getting an extra integra seat though to tear apart and see, so hopefully i will have some sort of answer soon

well i got a free seat and although they do look remarkebly similar.......... i cant tell you if they are the same as it was pretty dry rotted as well and falling apart once i took it apart, so i couldnt use it

so off to the drawing board again, i know a very reputable upholstry shop in the area i will see what they would charge to make me some foam......... if that doesnt work i will just have to bite the bullet and buy the new one from acura

but what your not taking into account is other integras have that other metal piece #25 with the foam........ therefore it is REQUIRED to have a different part number...... you cant have the same part number for both when one needs a an extra piece

im not saying that they in fact are the same foam, bc there is really no way to tell without having 2 brand new foams right next to each other...... all im saying is just because there is 2 different part numbers doesnt mean the foams are different

I understand what you are saying.....

I apologize for The Dude and I taking over your thread......

Maybe I am wrong, but from my own personal experiences the seat base(cushion) feels different when sitting on the two back to back.....

I have had LS Integra seats in my civic, and my neighbor has an LS Integra currently....

Keep us posted on what you come up with, as I need to replace my bottom cushion on my R too.....

its not problem i know this has been an ongoing debate in here for a long time..... but like i said unfortunately there is no way to really tell without both brand new foams next to each other....... i dont think it will be very valid to compare used foams

but i would love for someone to do just that and end this finally
