Pissed and Ques about o2 sensor...
I love my 02 Ep3, but the more i learned, the more ripped off I felt and this is the icing on the cake. I had my exhaust changed to aftermarket and then back to stock. When i took it back to stock my check engine light comes on and the code is bank 1 sensor 1 o2 sensor. So im finally in a place to spend some extra money and the F'in primary o2 sensor from honda is 297.00$ Theres a junkyard in my city that has the secondary(after cat), but nobody from honda can tell me if the sensor is truly built different or if its only different because its not the front one! Autozone/Advanced has o2 sensors that you can a: solder in(70$) or b: buy with harness for like (150is$).
Is there really a difference between the primary and secondary o2 sensors in a 2002 Civic Si (Ep3)?...
What is it?...
Will the ones from Auto Zone/Advance be a total waste of money?...
Didnt i read a write up about using one of the new Si's o2 sensors with a little modification because they are cheaper? Or Am i wishing I had read sumpin like that.... Thanks for reading guys!
Poor gas mileage in Birmingham...

Yeah primary is wideband, secondary is narrowband.
You can order it here http://hondapartsunlimited.com.../Fuel
Number 17 is primary for 205
Number 18 is secondary for 205

Probably a stupid question... but if it's wideband should there's be a way to get a reading out of it for tuning purposes without spending money on an aftermarket wideband? I'm a noob when it comes to newer Hondas (I own an Integra) but I'll be around this section of the site more because I just bought an RSX.

So i went downstairs pulled it up on ramps and am like, "Cool, that doesnt look too bad..." That thing is tight *** hell and i dont really want to take that stupid heat plate gurd off. and its not a 19mm wrench so what size wrench does it take, or is their actually a tool you can purchase to remove my primary o2 sensor?
And what is gonna be good to spray on it to break loose whatever is keeping it in so tight? will wd-40 do?

and what would i clean the actual sensor with? Or do I just wipe it off with a clean rag? And if it is actually a bad sensor, can you visually tell? Why do they go bad? Is there a common connection between all o2 sensors that "burn out"?
Are you saying to clean it I have to heat it up, or that when they heat up red hot thats when they go bad? Heating it up to clean it doesnt sound right...
I took out both sensors and the tips of them are light grey/whitish with the side facing the flow of exhaust being slightly darker in shade. the color wouldnt wipe so i wiped them down and reinstalled them and un-did my negative to reset my ecu. I doubt its going to do anything though. The actual sensor is made by denso. Can I buy just the sensor from denso or someone and solder it back into the harness with electrical sloder and it be the same? I mean is the technology in this F'in o2 sensor so incredible that its actually worth over 200 bucks or am i just gonna pay for the little honda o2 harness? Because if Denso makes the sensor then honda hasnt made anything on that bitch other than the connector. Hmmmph
anyways, can just the denso sensor be found?

I dont know if anyone actually cares but ive have gotten to the bottom of this over priced garbage that the dealership ***** wont tell you... google Denso's website and search make/year/model. o2 sensors. Well im not sure about the rsx but Ep3 owners the deal is that on the cat you have two sensors bank 1 and bank 2 or front and read. Whatever. The first one closest to the engine is not an o2 sensor its an air/fuel metering sensor. Why you get bad gas mileage. The second one is actually the o2 sensor. Denso's website is selling the front sesnor for 198.00 and the second sensor for 33.00. I think thats the best deal and simple fact that the stock sensors are actually made by Denso! And the Oe replacement from Denso comes with the harness and the clip and all! I took mine out they looked like ****, the lights still there... So im gonna buy the ones from Denso. Hope that helps at least someone.
