Need Track Pad Recommendations - EG Civic Hatch B18c1 - Stock CX Brakes
I've been reading some brake pad threads here on this subforum, and wanted to get a little more specific info for my application.
I have a 92 Civic hatch CX model with GSR swap. Car is about 2200lbs + 200lb driver. Stock brakes (I believe 9.2" front disc, rear drum).
My plan is to run either Hawk Blues or HT-10s up front with the stock rear drums and shoes. I want to stick with Hawk because I instruct for NASA and get a decent discount!
I'm not sure if I'll be running some BFG G-force street tires, or some Kumho V710s. I might actually have some old Hoosier A6 (autox compound, may overheat??).
So anyone see anything wrong with running HT-10s or Hawk Blues up front? Track will be Summit Point Shenandoah and/or main circuit.
Thanks!

Hey I recognize you from bf.c.
Thanks for the tip. I run PF-97s on my 95 M3 on the track, and they got wet and ruined my SSRs!
So if I run the HT10s in the front with the stock brakes, I'll be ok?

With a gsr engine you need at minumum GSR/LS brake system. You are going to be 3-400lbs lighter than a gsr/ls car and speeds will be 5-15 mph more. The CX system is NOT up to the task of stopping the car repeatedly!!!

+2 especially if you plan on running R comps
10.3s barely do the job.. . 10.3s with ducting might get you buy if you are slow and don't use brakes much.. .
do yourself a favor though and get a 11" 4x100 setup. 10.3 knuckles and get a set of machined Type calipers from "BrakeExpert" on here.
The other day with 210whp K20 EG Civic, 225 RA1s, 2480lb full weight and adding a 185lb passenger, I experienced no fade with
** 11" fronts ITR calipers, no ducting. Satisfied Gransport GS3 pads 2/3 worn, new rotors
** GSR rear disc with carbotech XP8s
** Fresh AP Racing 5.1 fluid
Traffic wasn't bad though and it was a colder day. I imagine that a HOT and heavier traffic HPDE day will push me into the fade territory.

I hear what you are saying about upgrading, especially since a lot of the DC2 stuff bolts right up. Some of my friends have done this, and actually I had a previous GSR EG hatch with converted Si brakes. And everytime the pedal feels very soft. I guess the proper master cylinder must be swapped as well.
My first track day with the civic will probably be before I can get the brake conversion done, so I was hoping that might work with the right front pads. If I do decide to try it with nothing but HT-10s up front, I'll let everyone know what happens. At least I'll just stick with street tires.
I've been on track a few times with no brakes, I know its no fun. A few times in a 300TTZ, and once in my last GSR hatch. And this was years ago at my first track events.
Thanks everyone for the advice.

Go ahead and try the HT-10s, but if you haven't been there before know that Shenandoah is hard on brakes. It's not very fast, but there isn't much time to let the brakes cool off either. What group are you going with?

I've been to Shenandoah a few times, not in the Civic however. I drove my E36 M3 there maybe 4-5 days, and did the last two Redline Time Attacks in Street RWD.
Next time I go to Shenandoah will be with Trackdaze, I think its May 17-18. Wish me luck! Just as long as I don't lose brakes into Turn 1 or the Karussel!

I'll be there for that event
I'll be in the blue Civic with the giant orange 102 on the sides
You can make it out of the Karussel without brakes...not so much T1 though
