Okay, my d16z6 had been through a lot, i burned up valves in it twice running nos, and destroyed the mainshaft bearing in the transmission about 6 months ago. I put a new tranny on it, and an exedy clutch and lightened flywheel. 2 months ago i locked up the differential in that tranny and sold the motor to a friend.

He's running the motor in his 90 si hatch. With his stock tranny. Tonight he called me and asked if the crank might have been warped on that motor because his transmission just locked up and there is a hole in the casing and fluid is coming out. He can't put the car in neutral or anything.

Does this sound like what it could be, i've never seen a warped crank before, so i don't know. He said the motor seemed to vibrate a little at idle, but he thought it was because of the es motor mounts.

Anybody's insight, i really hope i didn't sell my friend a lemon.

oh btw. He was running a zc motor before and he was in a burn-out contest and at the end of his burnout he went down the track and locked up his motor. Anyway, is it possible that this messed up his tranny. He says he's just gonna get a new motor and transmission, but i'm still feeling really bad.

 

a compression test might give an indication, other wise pull the head and crank it by hand. you should see wobble if it's warped.

 

Well, last time i had it torn down, there was no play in any piston, perfect all the way across. But that was before the lightened flywheel. I don't know.

well if the flywheel was out of balance after being lightened, you have just found your cause.

 

wobble wobble and drop the single cam while it`s hot.

Time to go b16 (at least).

 

sounds like the tranny blew, typical non harden pinion cross shaft failure.
