Default running rich

ok guys, quick question. I know this may not be the best thing in the world for your spark plugs or engine all together, but this engine is being trashed soon. How can i force my engine to run just a little richer than it is right now? it's just a little too lean right now, but when it cold starts and runs rich, it drives great. reason being is that when i drive with the ac on, it has a little problem with power and it's not a big problem because i'm no racer, for god sakes it's a stock d15b7 except the intake so no need to try and go fast, but i'm tired of having problems leaving a stoplight when my ac is on. i don't have that problem when it's running rich in the morning.

Making the car run richer isnt going to yeild any power.
But if you absolutely just have to run rich because your ignorant, look into buying a adjustable fuel pressure regulator.

Have fun with the smoke screen you'll be creating.

yea, fortunately when it runs JUST A LITTLE RICH, it doesn't create a smoke screen. My car runs rich for the first 5 to 10 minutes every morning when i start it up. and actually, running rich will yield more power since i have high sparking spark plugs an intake and there will be extra fuel. i'm not saying it's racing power, but it will give it just the tinniest bit extra to run my air.

I disagree, running rich will foul spark plugs and you will lose power. I dont care what spark plugs you have, your plugs have no control over how much fuel is being delivered into the cylinder and whether or not you have the most expensive plugs you can buy, if you do not have the air to make up for the added fuel your just wasting your money for bad gas mileage.
Go ahead, run rich, lose some power and be ignorant.

dude i'm [freak]ing telling you i run rich every morning and my car runs better than ever when it's rich. idk if the intake makes up for the air or not. it's not like i'm trying to double the amount of fuel pumped. it's only a slight increase. I'm going to run it just a little less rich than when it runs on a cold start. and yea i see what your sayin about fouling the spark plugs and all. I'm not sayin it's good for my car, but i'm trashing this motor soon anyway and i find myself becoming less and less concerned for it's longevity and life span. it's not going to make it die in the next two months. and that's the whole point in high combustion spark plugs, it provides more spark in order to burn all the fuel. more combustion = more power. it's only a temporary fix til i do my engine swap.

Actually it's your high idle, not your warm up enrichment. Your AC idle up isn' t functioning. Has nothing to do with your fuel mixture.

But go ahead and fly off the handle.

really n truely if i were you, id do a basic tune up; plug wires, cap n rotor, fuel filter, n clean ur air filter. after all that n ur still not satisfied about what your 95hp engine is giving you, stop running with your ac till ur new power plant is in...

Let him try to make his car run "a little richer". He doesn't realize that the O2 feedback will just pull it back to stoich.

At that low of load, richening the mixture doesn't do much of anything. The factory ECU relies on ignition timing advance and the IACV to keep your car idling smooth and to prevent it from bogging down under PS, AC, and alternator load.

If you truly believe that the engine is running too lean when warmed up, then you may want to check whether the ignition timing is slightly off. Another possibility is a malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor.

ignition timing is off. It's not even the right pulley system, and don't ask me how they got a different one on there cause i didn't even know it was possible. but no matter how much you advance or retard the timing, it doesn't match up. i looked on another stock 92, and it doesn't even look the same. so i tried the idle up, and nothing, so i put it back down. You guys maybe right, maybe the o2 sensors will pull it back down. but i'm still going to try. It doesn't pull it back down in my buddy's ls. It may or may not work, but i'm not really worried about killing the motor since i'm bout to do an engine swap soon.

it idles fine, it's take off that has a problem. if it was a problem with the idle i'd just clean the iacv and adjust the idle control.
