Default Battery discharge= Failed Emission

I went to emission today and they said they could not get any reading from the ECU. They ask me if I recently worked on my car or if the battery got drain. I have not drive my Lude for almost 5 months and yesterday I charged the battery cuz it was drained and I could not get it to start. They mention about the ECU got reset and It takes a some drive pattern to get a right reading from ECU.

This is the first time Iv'e heard so I got no clue how to get this fix. Is this only a battery charge issue and it need to charge up more? What drive pattern they're talking? My lude is 99 SH.

Any advice would be good.

thanks

o is that what it is? that's not good cuz my tab is already expired. Any alternative than just driving it to 100 miles? Right now I left my car on, assuming it would help a bit.

It doesn't take much more than about 15 miles, maybe 20 minutes of driving....

Yup just drive it a bit, and keep any paperwork in your car to prove to a cop you are trying to get it taken care of if you get stopped. And driving the car and heating it up will help it to pass emissions, especially if its been sitting quite awhile.

Thanks for the ideas..

Anyway, after I let the car ran (sitting) for a while I drove off a bit about 2miles (around residential street) but did not get a chance to go back to emission to find out cuz I got to go to work. I was also thinking if I could also get a tempopary permit to drive the lude for a while. I have a really clean driving record now and I don't wanna take the risk cuz some mean cops out there won't give a **** sometimes. But, thanks guys.. we'll see this week.
