THANX</TD></TR></TABLE> and yea i would have to agree....a back up battery is goin to help with the effectiveness of the alarm if they try to silence it by disconnecting the primary battery.

A good alarm installed by a great shop should be able to make it happen. My car was broken into, and the thieve had all night with my car and couldn't get it going. They even tried to push start it, and nothing. So a good alarm can keep your car from being taken under it's own power.

alarms are cool until your car meets a tow truck.
best way to save your car is to get the biggest chain you can find and chain your car to a tree.
or even better is if you have a family member with "diminished capacity" that you can simply place in the car when you can't be with it.
People may want to steal your car, but they don't want to steal your slow cousin.

I was out of the country and accidentally set it to "Valet" mode, which means that the alarm was set but no audible sounds were emitted. So with no sounds being emitted they had all night with my car. They tried to pop my window, but I disengaged my door locks from inside the car. They tried to jump my starter with a wire straight from the battery. They destroyed my radio antenna, thinking it was my alarm entenna. They broke my ignition. Finally, they tried to pop it by pushing it was another car from behind.

Use a boot, that can help with a tow truck. They may still try and drap it up the ramp, but that would make some serious racket.

Thought about that, but I don't have a big tree near my car.
I've head of people running their fuel cut off through their AC button on the dash. If you don't have AC that could work.

it's not that it wont be stolen its preventing or making it as hard as possible for the theif.
kill switches, alarms (the gps ones), pulling the ecu, removing the steering wheel and a garage all help...............................but if they REALLY freaking want to they can break your garage door down etc.
what was that one show car that got nabbed out here......the drove a truck throughthe shop door......... towed it away and they found it behind pole position raceway in lake elsinore
i belive it was an FG with carbon fiber everywhere and turbocharged

Sounds like a great idea, huh? But no one has tried it. If they had, they'd find out that the stereo is wired to ACC voltage, not IGN. When you crank the car, the stereo turns off. And your kill switch is open.
It doesn't work.
You COULD re-wire your stereo to IGN voltage instead of ACC. But I don't want my car wired that way.

I live in Iowa thankfully so we don't see car theft as much around here. But this is my protection plan.
Always have a garage to park in.
Leave the car parked in the garage, unlocked. (if they want in the car, they will get in by messing more stuff up)
Arm the car alarm, make sure its loud as hell. Have a killswitch hidden
Make the garage hard to get into ( deadbolt on the door, and garage door double latched)
Put a baby monitor (electric or battery) with the LED painted over, in the garage near the door, put the receiver in your bedroom with the volume low, but loud enough you can hear someone tampering with the door.
If you hear someone trying to break in, immediately call the police, and look out for the thieves getaway vehicle parked near ( but don't turn any lights on)
If your brave and/or stupid like me :
Get a shotgun, keep it unloaded near your bed.
After you call the cops, wait a minute then run into the driveway with the unloaded gun and wait for the thieves to come out and hold them at gunpoint until the cops show up.
This is what my best friend did (minus the gun) after his VR4 Galant was gutted in his own garage, and they came back for his 1G talon a month later and they were caught and are in jail.
