Default car sputter after fuel rail install....help..

ok. running origional engine on my 99 si...(b16a2) .... motor internal is stock, but it has p28 w/chip, headers, intake etc.... nothing major.

so i put on the golden eagle fuel rail with my stock injectors and aem fuel pressure regulator. ...after looking in the manual, it says the fuel pressure is suposed to be between 40-47 w/ the vacuum line OFF of the regulator.

so...i had the fuel at about 44/45...and at low rpm, the car is sputtering and spitting from the exhaust....

i recently bumped the fuel up to 47/48 psi...only got to drive it for about 10 min...but before i drive it anymore...maybe someone on here could tell me if it is lacking fuel thats causing the sputter or maybe something else i could/should check???

thnx.....

put the original fuel rail on and see if it still sputters.

question: did you put new o-rings on the injectors? also do you smell gas? also why did you put a new rail/regulator on?

im prob not gonna put the old rail on just cause its such a bitch. i did a wire tuck and everything on the new one. no i did not put new o-rings..bu they are all good. i checked them. no gas leaks anywhere either. i changed it b/c i had it sittin around from my built gsr motor..but i put a bdl on the gsr motor...so i just put this golden eagle one on my b16.

idk why it sputters tho? i was thinking maybe the fuel pressure was just low?

i see.

you're not throwing any codes huh? describe the sputter. when does it do it, at idle, normal driving/maintaining speed, under hard load or accel...?

as long as you didn't mess with the fuel pump, and you said you reused stock injectors, there's no apparent reason for low pressure. if anything i would think an aftermarket regulator would bump up the pressure.

is it possible that the injector bung seals could be leaking (the seals between injector and manifold)? manifold vacuum leaks can cause some funny problems.

the aem is a oem ajustable replacement so just swap it out with the old one and see if thet fixes the problem

ok... no i am not throwing any codes. we adjusted the mixture screw on the TB to oem specs. reset the ecu...and i am noticing that its not really sputtering when i first turn the car on. but once the temp gets warmed up all the way is when its sputtering SOMETIMES. sometimes i'll drive the car and it wont sputter,...othertimes its sputtering at low rpm when the car is warmed up.

the aem is not a oem replacement...that is b&m...

but anyways....i looked by the manifold where the injectors sit and there are no leaks. i also checked all the vacuum lines...nothing wrong. when i bumped the fuel pressure up to 48 it seemed to fix the sputter a little bit. but i dont want to go much higher than that until someone can actually vouche that its SUPPOSED to be higher. plus, im running a chipped p28, which makes my car run a little richer than normal...so....i'm still kinda lost as to what this sputter might be.

thnx for everyone's input...

still lookin for answers......thnx again guys!!
