To properly install pistons, the block will need to be honed, especially if the block has quite a few miles on it.

You won't be able to buy the Type S pistons from a US dealer.

There are several manufactures that make pistons for the H22A4 as well that don't need to be sleeved, such as Mahle, Jun, and JE, I believe.

The block still needs to be honed, regardless of the piston manufacturer used.

Boring and honing are two completely different machining operations.

boring would be the process of removing material, in your case i you bore you will need to go to the next size, being 87.2 or something like that. that means they will remove about .1 mm per side of each cyclinder, meaning they will remove .2mm in total.

Honning would be what happens after the boring process or in any situation where you want to improve the surface quality. Honning will make corrections to the surface evening out the peaks and valleys on your cylinder walls so your rings can have a smoother surface to seal against.

the best advice is to hone if your on a budget, but since the motor is out of hte car
take your time and see whats wrong what things you need to change, and what are your best solutions....Take it from me I learned the hard and expensive way

beside the H22a is an Interference engine... start with and it will tell you about the Type S pistons.

Let me know when you're ready to part that motor out in a month or so. I need an H22a head. KTHXBYE!
