Default How bad is torquebraking/powerbraking on the car?

Unfortunately, I have a 94 LS that is automatic. I have heard that the best way to launch an automatic is to rev to about 1800 rpm while holding the brake, then let go of the brake and accelerate, a procedure known as powerbraking or torque braking.

If I do this right, I can chirp the tires in my LS every time.

My question: How bad is this for my car? Is it going to mess up my brakes? My tires? Anything else?

I might do it 3 times a night if I'm in the mood. How bad does this hurt the car?

I'd be more worried about your transmission there buddy.

Tires and brake pads can be replaced with ease, but I suppose that if you wore out the tranny you'd just have to replace it with a manual so it wouldn't be that bad.

People with manual trannies chirp tires all the time, don't worry about the rubber.

This technique is not the best for your automatic tranny, niether is shifting through like D3 and D4 on an auto like many stunnas think they can keep doing and keep up with manual trannies.

If you have the money go manual transmission, you'll never regret it, it's the best thing you can do to an automatic integra.

Lolz your not worried about your transmission? brake pads and tires (even together) are much cheaper than a transmission repair.. but then again if your trying to damage it so that you can get a manual conversion thats a diff story..

I guess that's what I'm asking:

Just how bad is this for an automatic transmission?

keep it up if you want a new transmission/to do a manual swap that bad.... or you can sell your auto now/in working condition and do the swap and maybe get some money instead of ruining it before you do a swap.... its pretty bad for your auto tranny, torque converter and boiling tranny fluids... but its also your money so if you got money to blow and you don't care then keep doing it..

It does wear out and heat up your tranny to no end... and remember 90% of things that go wrong with an auto are HEAT related, and torque breaking REALLY heats things up.... I've owned my car for 3 years now and I've only done this kind of launching mabye 10-20 times total and it hasn't hurt it.... even putting the turbo on hasn't hurt it yet, but even still I would NEVER be doing that **** 2-3 times a night..... just sell your car or take a shotgun to the tranny, it would be quicker.
