Default New Mugen Si at the track

Its not my car, but a friend of mines. Saturday we decided to go to Great lakes Dragway for opening day. The car is stock besides an injen intake and dc sports header, and obvisouly the slicks. Got in the staging lanes 5 minutes before the track closed. Only had one run and had to make the best of it. The car went 14.390 and it was the drivers first time ever at the track, and first time on slicks.

Great times, now are those slicks or drag radials?

Those look like slicks...did he run with 2 people in the car or by himself? With a little more practice he should break into the 13's no problem on slicks.

Those slicks seem to be alitte small for the car.. he prob would been better off on stock wheels n tires, or some DR's.. but being his first time that may be why he only pulled a 2.2 60"

The slicks were mounted on a 15 inch wheel, im pretty sure they were mickey thompsons. with more practice for sure the 60ft could come down some, but if you listen in the video he spins in first alittle bit, so track prep could have been better. I think if the 60ft is on the money for sure the car would go 14.00 or 13.99

well there are a few ppl with his mods running those times on street tires.. I think those small slicks are hurting his top end as well.. Id bet he'd run the same times on his stockers with not to much effort... seat time is gonna be the biggest gain for him..

A real track is a place where you can actually push the car to its limits in a manner that will test the performance of more than just the motor.

One of the 'features' of this car is Mugen track-tuned suspension .... I'm pretty sure Mugen didn't develop new dampers and springs for a 1/4mi drag strip.... why wouldnt you want to take advantage of something that has been highly engineered specifically for this chassis? Seems like a waste to just beat on it in a straight line.

Nothing against drag racing, but put that Civic on a road course and make some use of it
