Default Civics been backfiring......

I recently put on a new pipe....I didn't change anything else just the exhaust pipe. And ever since I did my car has been backfiring.

It doesn't do it all the time,it just seems to do it like if i slowly rev to about 4000 rpms or so and then switch to the next gear it'll backfire. It doesn't seem to do it if I gun it though.I'm thinking maybe my filters dirty and I'm not getting enough air or maybe my timings a bit off...but it never did it with the stock exhaust pipe so I dont know.

Any ideas?

what do u mean by "slowly rev to 4,000" like if u drive slow it backfires while ur giving it gas???? cuz if its just backfireing when ur foots not on the pedal or low rpm dont trip BUT if its the other way around...we got a problem

Well I mean I don't floor it and then switch at 4000,I have the pedal about midway or so and then switch when it gets to 4000 and it'll backfire when i let off the gas to switch. But like I said it doesn't always happen, just like 3 times out of 5.

SO basically when the cars slowing itself down itll backfire every now and then...sound about right??? Just to b safe check the Air filter make shure its still good and clean & that ur getting good air flow to the engine cuz if the thottle body gets to much air at once itll choke causing the car 2 backfire which isnt good but most likely its nuthin to worry bout.

Did you just change the muffler or the entire exhaust? I have a full cat-back with a magnaflow cat but without the resonator(bad idea) and sometimes when i drive normal but take it to 35-4500 rpms before i shift, it will pop/backfire between gears. Or if im at like 5 grand in 2nd-4th gear after gettng on gas i can tap the gas and get it to pop/backfire. I call it the gun shot....it makes babies cry and crackheads run.
