There isn't a forum that discusses appereance so I am going to post this here. Feel free to move it to the appropriate forum. I have a set of Sparco seats that very very badly faded. They were red in color, Sprint Model. After searching HT for a solution the best I could find was, "buy new ones". Since there are many people with this problem I decided to find a solution. I contacted Napa Auto Parts in Pickering (Canada) and they told me that duplicolor makes a vinyl and fabric paint ($11 per can). They also told me they have a better product that they mix in house that is ($35 per spray can). I bought the duplicolor stuff and decided to give it a go.
What you will need:
Masking tape
2 Buckets (one with soapy water one with clean water)
Soft brisle brush
Clean cloth
Shop Vacuum

1. Using the soft brisle brush wash the seats with the soapy water (don't soak them though. Use the cloth and clean water to "rinse them off". If your seats have stains you can use one of those stain cleaners for cars that come with a cap-brush.
2. Allow the seats to dry
3. Mask all the areas that you don't want sprayed. For the "SPARCO" lettering I used auto finishing masking tape (the very thin one) and masked each letter one by one. I found that the paint blended so well with the original color that for the second seat, I just placed a thick piece of tape over the lettering.
4. Spray the seats as you would when using a normal spray can.
5. Allow them to dry (this will take 20 minutes max...this stuff dries super quick!

To give you an idea of the results:
From 1-10 (10 being the worst) the fading on my seats was a good 8.5-9
After painting them they look just the same as new.
My main concern was that the paint would make the seats feel Hard. However, the feel to the seats is exactly the same as new.
Overall, this product saved me $600 and best of all the end result is not mickey mouse. Seats look awesome. I will post pictures of the finished product, I don't have any before pictures though.

Is it possible to paint a bright red sparco seat black or dark grey with cloth/vinyl spray paint? Will it tun out ok/not wear off? I was told you just need to put multiple coats on. (i would have started a new thread, but the orignal post at the top was very relevent)

Will be perfect for the top of my rear si seats...damn sun!!! Thanks for postin this man. This is a common problem, and for perfectionists like myself, a constant eye sore...I may experiment with the in house stuff and see what happens, will keep you guys updated if you like. Thanks again!
