Is that why I couldn't unscrew the factory one? I couldn't see up there it's a bit of a tight squeeze to get to it on the Si coupe.

I have no idea what cover you are talking about.

There shouldn't be a cover on the oil filter....it just twists into place. It's kinda hard to get to so there's probably an extender grappling tool that some people use to get to it and twist it off...but I don't recall ever seeing a cover with screws on it.

(think the OP had mistaken this to be a cover) If you look at the filter like a clock between 7 to 12 o'clock... There is an aluminum heat shield protecting the filter from the exhaust manifold.
To the OP: You DO NOT REMOVE ANY "COVER" from the oil filter. The "tool" you're referring to is the oil filter wrench (cup type or grappling as Rico stated). It goes over the filter so you can remove it with a 3/8 wrench.

no need to take off the headshield, just twist off the filter with a cup type filter wrench...its gonna get messy cuzz it will drip all over the place..honda makes a nice oil deflector that helps keeps it clean while takin off the filter

Is this sarcasm or is there really a deflector? If so, how much is it and do you buy it from the Honda dealer? I'm just so annoyed with oil dripping everywhere when I change my filter

The picture that you posted is not the oil filter. Just to clarify on the screws though. They are called tamper-proof torx. It's mainly to prevent someone from messing with a part that really shouldn't be worked on at all. The picture is pretty tough to tell from, but that spot where the light is pointing looks like the steering motor. The best spot to see your filter from is to remove the front right tire and you'll find it on the backside of the motor.
i know that now. i saw it through my rim. but umm the owners manual is seriously eff'd up or somethin cuz it was tellin me the left side. cuz u can see the sway bar and the rear subframe bolt.
