What kind of gains can you expect from a K&N drop in filter?
So there are whispers of the PasswordJDM power chamber coming out for the si... I dont want to waste money on another intake so I was thinking about just dropping in a direct replacement filter from K&N. Is there any difference over the stock Filter?
Performance gains? None. Maybe a slight increase in MPG and engine noise but the main advantage is having a cleanable air element...., as opposed to something you have to replace every so often. I've had one in my FG2 for over a year, no complaints.
Be careful not to over-oil the filter though, the MAF sensor can be ruined pretty easily ...

yuup
its worth the money if your keeping the stock intake setup in the long run. but not if your changing to an aftermarket one in less than 6 months.
i had one on my fg1 for a while. loved it

I've had a K&N drop-in since my car was pretty much brand new. You can expect a better sound from your intake, and a little smoother acceleration. Don't expect any noticeable boosts in power, but the extended life of the filter (reusable/cleanable) definitely makes it worth the money if you don't want an aftermarket intake.

i was thinking of putting K&N as well but i am
a little bit concerned, for i heard that the oil will
eventually do more harm than good.
they claim it doesn't filter that well and if you overdo
the oiling part,it will mess up your sensors.
On very lightweight wheels and fins cut out I did feel a change in throttle response and midrange. On stockers nada. Then I stopped Mickey-Mousing around with it and went turdbo.
You will gain more dirt flowing into the engine which COULD cause a dirtier MAF sensor and dirtier engine oil...
They flow better but in my opinion less particles get past a paper filter.

Really?!
I definitely do not share that opinion.
