6th gen thermostat question
Is the Tstat located inside this?

People were saying its located to the part that comes right off of the upper radiator hose.
In order to change my thermostat, do I loosen those nuts? Also, how low do I need to drain my coolant in order for it not to spill URRWHERE?
Are there any good write ups on this?

As far as how far to drain it i would just pull the hose off from the spot on the pic you have on here. Im not a 100% postive but i believe its their to, but i havent replaced mine yet, best advise is to get HAYNES manual. You would have already been done, without having to come on here bumpin the post.
if i remember right theres a bleeder valve to bleed out the air after you have replaced and connected everything.

This is what I need to know:
how to drain the coolant?
how low do i drain it?
Where is the air bleeder for the coolant system?
Should I get a low temp thermostat? It also comes with a new gasket.
(What kind of tstat would benefit my gas mileage the most? Low temp, high temp, or OEM?) I was told that OEM was the best, then i was told that 190F tstat was the best..But I thought the OEM Honda Tstat is 190F. Is this correct?

drain the coolant from Rad, and some will be left over in the hoses...
drain all the coolant if possible... better if u clean the pipes with clean water.
and as for ur thermostat... no point of going lower temp. OEM aftermarket should be ok..

Ok, I'm hoping this tstat swap will help out my wapping 19mpg!
a. Will I def need to replace the tstat gasket at 93k? If so, will the package come with the gasket seal?
b. I think I need to know where the air bleeder is. Is it shown in the picture?
c. Is simply removing the bottom rad hose the most efficiant way of draining the coolant?

Yes, all you will need to do is drain the coolent from the radiator...
The circle in your picture looks like the front of the engine? On my 94 the T-Stat housing is directly back on the other side of the engine where the lower radiator hose connects (to the tstat housing).
It may have a bleeder valve on the top of it.
The replacement should come with a gasket. Its easier if you remove the intake snorkle. Don't over torque the bolts or the bleeder valve when you bleed the system, the aluminum breaks/strips easily...
I realize that you have one gen newer accord, so that may infact be the location of the tstat???

I'm pretty positive the tstat housing is connected to the upper rad hose.
Does anyone think that this will help improve my MPG?

nope...
wow, I surprised that only one person pointed out that that is not the correct location of the thermostat...
the thermostat in the 98-02 4cyl is located in the same area as the 90-93 Accord and the 94-97 Accord 4cyl.
Here is a diagram to show you where yours is located

for reference, #9 is the part you have circled in the picture above.
#6 is the part you need to remove to get to the thermostat, it's removed by removing the two #24's.
The bleeder screw is #12
If you would like some actual pictures, I have some showing the bleeder screw in my timing belt write-up I do believe. It's from a F22B1 but it's pretty much the same.
To answer some of your other questions...
-get an OEM thermostat
-replace the gasket as well (if you buy from the dealership it will come with a gasket)
-to drain the coolant, at the bottom of the radiator there should be a valve. You unscrew the wing nut looking end and it will drain out the bottom. Just drain as much as you can, flush if you are able to and then re-fill with new coolant. Dispose of old coolant properly as it's deadly to animals. The city I live in has a waste coolant recycle at the DPW that you can come and empty old coolant into.
-and no, I don't think this is going to improve your gas mileage.

It's in almost the same location that you circled, except on the BACK side of the head.

Ok, well the only reason I was considering doing this was to improve my gas mileage. I'm only getting about 19mpg city with very easy driving. This is pretty horrible compared to the people getting 23-26mpg city with hard driving.
I don't know what to do to improve it! Are there valves or ports that can be cleaned that should improve mileage? Only 93xxxk miles on the car.

Have you touched anything between the head and the muffler? O2 sensors, catalytic convertor?
EDIT: I see in the photo you posted you still have the stock exhaust manifold.
Any check engine lights?

Negative. Only mods are intake & muffler. No CEL. I think i noticed the drop in mileage when I put on my SRI. I was receiving about 22 city, I dont know why the intake would drop it that noticably. I realize that more air=more fuel, but I doubt the drop in mileage come COMPLETELY from the intake.
BTW, oil change about 200 miles ago. No change.
