Default Harnesses Help

I'm ordering a pair of Sparco Evo's but I'm having trouble choosing which harness to go with. How are the 4 point Fixed catch Clubman harness? EEC approved with push button release buckle, $80? Is it worth paying $200+ for 4 point Professional rally/saloon harness. Aircraft quick release buckle, 3" shoulder straps and lap straps. FIA approved? Or is there some other Harnesses I should look at ....Takata's?

get a roll bar and proceed with a 5 pt or higher harness so you dont go submarining.

and for a harness that will need replacing every 2 years or so, better try your luck with something more affordable than takatas. SABELT does the job.

Harnesses are usually acceptable/good for about 5 years after the date of manufacture.

For Sabelts:
http://www.racerwholesale.com

For Sparcos:
http://www.upracing.com

*Note: You will have to buy the appropriate mounting hardware separately. Sparco and Sabelt belt construction is the same...if you don't mind red, you can get the Sabelts for $109. If you do mind red, then you have to get Sparcos which are about $170. I got the Sparcos.

No Soup For You!!

I do believe SCCA is 5 years from the date of manufacture.
That is, unless you "use" them.

Another thing, it might be that Sparco and Sabelt are made by the same company.

Yes, they are identical except for the company name that happens to get stitched on the belts...

I used to sell both Sabelt and Sparco 4 points but not anymore. Schroths are much better IMHO... http://www.soloracer.com/schroth.html

FYI: I only recommend using them for autocross. I wouldnt use them on the street or road course unless you have rollover protection. Alot of guys seem to use the Schroths in show cars too.

I was looking into Schroth before I got my Sparco... Both offer 3" lap and shoulder belts. So what makes Schroth so much better? I wanted to get them, but for an extra $70, I couldn't justify it. They will both hold you in...

If you can, get 3" lap and shoulder belts, they're alot more "comfortable" if you hit something!!! Plus 5 point is way better than 4 for more than just the submarining thing, the extra strap keeps the belts in a much better (lower) position and stops them riding up.
