How do you know its time for new axles???
I just recently got my Exedy Organic clutch installed about 3 weeks ago. And from the day I got it done I noticed that my car would make some kind of thump noise, I don't exactly know where its coming from but I hear it around the front passenger side and sometimes on the drivers side. The guy who installed the clutch accidentally ripped the CV boot, I'm not sure if that could be the cause of the problem. Hopefully it's nothing major, the guy said he ordered me a new CV boot and would install it for me hen he received it. I have an appointment with him on Tuesday so hopefully its just that... Thanks!!!
How do you accidentally rip open a CV boot?? Anyways...
He could have left a mount loose/bolts loose, etc.
Usually a bad axle will make horrible vibrations on accel if you have worn inner joints.
A bad outer joint(s) will wobble and make a knocking sound around corners.
If it's the joint, it's too late for a re-boot, you will need a new/reman axle.

You will know when you need new axles. And if he ripped the CV boot then it is possible that enough dirt and sand and **** got in it or it lost enough grease to wear it out. How long have you been driving it with the ripped boot?

Since when does it take 3 weeks to get a CV boot? I dont think hes going to replace the boot. Shady mechanics, learn to DIY, its so much better relying on yourself, cause you know that you can trust yourself.
I just talked to the guy who installed the clutch today and I told him that I wanted to replace both axles. Hes just gonna charge me the parts +tax and $50 for labor, since he was the one who ripped it. In comparison to pet boys, they're charging me $356 for everything. So Im guessing its not that of a bad idea to get them both replaced, rite?
sounds like your mechanic is stepping up to the plate. good deal. i just replaced my passenger side axle last weekend. took me 30 minutes. however that is the 3rd one i have ever done. easy **** as long as you have an air wrench to get the blasted axle nut off.
