Some Air Condition installation question.
I have a 94 Civic CX.
I just piece together all the AC parts I needed. I am planning to install it but I just want to make sure I do it correct to get it working the first time around. Do I need to put fluid in any place? Is there any special thing I need to do? Thank you.

It most likely takes R134a refrigerant, R12 was mostly phased out by 1994. Go back and look at what it says for the car that you got the compressor and everything off of.

Mine came off a 92 Si. It's R12 but I can convert it to R134a I don't mind. My concern is what oil do I put in the compressor. Or do I run it dry like that.

There is a very good write up in the FAQ section on AC that includes photos. Search the FAQs and you should find it. Some things to consider as well.
You will need to check all o-rings, hoses and metal pipes before installing them. One of my metal lines on my AC was corroded through and I had to redo the R-134A charge three times before finding the leak. A word of advice. A vacuum pump wont find a leak. Only a pressure test will do that.
You will need a vacuum pump of some kind to evacuate the lines before charging it with R-134A.
I put AC in my Civic with parts from here and there and know exactly what you are going through. Good luck!

Thanks. I read the write up. He said to go rent a compressor at autozone but my area does not have it for rent. They said only places that has those compressor are shops. I found someone that can pump it for me so I'll get back with you guys if I need anything. Thanks.
well i learn that 92 and 93 ac system for eg civics are different. so if you are planning to get ac for your civic either get all parts from 94 up or 93 down. otherwise you will run into a lot of parts that does not fit. if you want full detail on what i did PM me i'll explain it to you.

if you gonna put ac in your 92 dx, you have a few options. first off you need to stick to using all 94,95 civic ac parts or all 92,93 ac parts. both system will fit your car but the smaller minor things wont work correctly. so meaning, if you choose to use a 94, 95 ac system, it will fit 100% but you need to change the 94,95 ac thermostat out and replace it with the 92,93 version. you need to use compressor oil made for 94,95 compressor. and finally you need to use r134a freon to charge your system. if you choose to use a 92,93 ac system, everything will fit right up in your car. only problem now is you need to use an oil made for 92,93 ac compressor. and you need to use r12 freon gas instead of r134a freon gas.
this may be a bit confusing but once you get all the parts together it should be a bit easier. i learn this the hard way so now i have lots of ac parts, both from 92-95. i've settle with using the 92,93 ac system for my 94 civic. i preferred the 94,95 set up because it would of be easier on my budget but too late now.
i currently have a leak in my system. i have not yet determined where the leak as come from but when i do i will update more. i am planning to put in r134a freon in the 92,93 system and hopefully it works well. i have already put in r134a a few days ago to test it out, it blows somewhat cold but it wouldn't hold a charge because of my leak.
i know someone is gonna flame me for doing this but i'm on very low budget and this way is cheaper for me at the moment.
skiracer8148, feel free to email me at mikenguyen85@hotmail.com if you have any questions. i do not check my honda tech much so if you have questions email me. someone in this thread told me it was gonna be a challenge putting ac in my car and well now i wish i never venture down this path. but since i'm half way down; might as well go the whole way. good luck.
*edit* parts you need for your car.
-small ac lines (runs from the firewall to near your windshield wiper fluid) (connects from evaporator to drier)
-big ac line (runs from firewall to compressor) (connects from evaporator to compressor's right hole)
-ac evaporator (under dash behind glove box) (connects between center air vents/heater core and air blower)
-ac thermostat (sits on top of evaporator) (92,93 has 2 pin harness. 94,95 has 3 pin harness)
-ac condenser w/ fan (sits next to radiator)
-ac electrical harness (starts at passenger side near passenger's headlight, goes all the way to driver's side headlight, has 3 plugs and 2 relay on driver's side and 1 big plug on passenger's side.
-ac compressor (sits below power steering, remember to get the tensioner pulley w/bracket and get the belt while you at it) (you have to remove the driver's side front motor mount to remove the ac belt)
-ac drier (driver's side, near windshield wiper fluid reservoir) some people may say replace this new, i am broke at the moment and the used one i got from the junkyard seem to be working fine. but it's your call.
i believe thats about it. i got all my parts from pick your part. try to go on a day that is 50% off sale. it saves you a big amount. all the parts are somewhat easy to find, just make sure if you gonna put 94,95 ac system go with all 94, 95 ac system and vise versa with the 92,93 ac system. BUT forsure you will need a thermostat off a 92,93 ac system. unless you willing to change your entire interior wire harness. good luck.
