Default is this price about right?

hey,

i have a 91 DX civic hatch, and was looking to get a b20 installed by a shop. this is the following setup they recommended:

b20 block and everything else is LS. meaning LS tranny, ecu, intake manifold, etc.

got a price of $4850. does this sound right? i asked for $4000, but they wont do it. im really close to getting it anyway, just wanted to see what you people thought. thanks in advance.

seems a little high, but if it's a top notch shop, i guess it's good.
since you got an EF you gotta have mounts...that's $500....b20 block is ~500-800...plus all the labor, they gotta hunt down all those parts from an LS and put everything together....seems decent to me. although for 5 grand, you could put an h22 in it. or even a b18c5 if you saved a little more. you could surely do b18c1 for 5K, and it would be faster than the b20.

if it were me, i'd say screw this and choose a different setup, or a different shop. you can do ALOT with 5 grand. are they replacing clutch/flywheel, water pump, timing belt, all the goodies? or are they just throwing everything together?

i am trying to boost later down the road. and im not really into vtec anymore although i REALLY wanted a h22. but shops charge to much for that setup.

as far as aftermarket parts, it wont be touched. everything will be stock. also, when you say "ALOT", what would you recommended for a budget of $4000-5000. keep in mind, a shop has to do EVERTHING which really makes it more expensive. any more ideas or comments? thanks...
