Default big problem, no starty

I went out to my car today to start her up, and it wouldnt start. It just makes a funny clicking noise, like a rapid click. Anyone know whats wrong with it? Or any suggestions, im bummed out.

Clicking = electrical problem ... first thing to do is try jumping it to make sure you're getting juice

rapid clicking = battery voltage low or beginning to die
try a jump start like mentioned above

do the cheap fixes first....
1. you tried jump starting
2. next is make sure the battery terminals are tight and not corroded, give them a good cleaning and make sure they're tight at the other end too. after cleaning, you may need to try jumping it again.
3. now you're down to spending money, it's either the starter (more likely) or battery (yes I have seen jump starting fail when the battery is so bad that it sucks all the juice from the "donor" car and doesn't allow any to go to your starter
4. another possibility is the main relay, but that usually doesn't make a clicking sound... it's just dead when that's out.

hope this helps

rapid clicking = battery

one click = starter

Clean and tighten battery terminals, then do the same on the starter connections. Turn off radio, lights, etc when trying to start the car.

JT is right. battery doesnt have sufficient power to turn the motor over.
