Advancing timing with 9.0:1 compression....
I am running a (roughtly) 9.0:1 compression forged piston in my LSVT with stock header. I will be running this setup for a month or two while I save some fundage... the problem is that 9.0:1 in a 4dr is slower than the snail I used to have.....
I want to advance my ignition timing and was wondering what would a safe advance would be... especially considering the low compression.
Also, without advancing timing....what would the lowest octane gas I would be able to run ? 89 ?....ooooh.... 87
??

You can run 87 Octane without advancing the timing with that compression. I think that's even the the owners manual for a B18B for a 10:1 CR.
I would assume that I can either run 87 octane with stock timing OR 92/3 with advanced timing. Would I also correct in assuming that if I advance timing to 16-18 degrees, that I MUST run at least 92 octane or would I be ok with... hmmm... an 89 oct considering my low CR ?
Thanks for the responses thus far

Hmm... 18 deg (on which octane ? Any? The highest ?) I am running NGK 7 plugs from my turbo setup (not on right now), should I run a colder plug ?
But I think I need to re-adjust my fuel pressure. I currently have it set at about 38 or so *pinched*
I am looking to get one of 2 things.... either a bit more power to push the turtle along OR Crazy-MaDD-SkILLz gas Milage.
