Default My 1984 SVO Mustang

I bought this car lasy July and it was in pretty bad shape when I got it, but I had it painted by a guy locally and was pretty happy with the results. Its pretty stock right now other than Eibach springs and a Ford Motorsports A237 cam.

I love that car when I was in HS. It was like a kid wishing for a Evo or STI today.

It was also the first Mustang with Independent Rear, right? And it had 4 rear shocks too. Right.

Save that puppy. It a collector's car.

It didn't have an IRS, ford didn't have that on a mustang till the 99 Cobra. The SVO just came with a Ford 7.5" solid axle rear end.

Very cool.

Those were on par with the 5.0's at the time, right? It's nice to see one is as good of shape as yours.

At the time they were sold, it was the most powerful and must expensive mustang you could get. In 84 the sticker price was about $6,000 more than a GT, and they were a bit quicker.

Very nice man. I love those for how unique they are. I like the aero fronts a little more than the recessed light front but still super cool. I read an article recently on how the spoiler delete cars are really rare.

i agree with the sti comment. hell these days an sti is 30 grand. 10 years ago in school the svo was on average 10, but then it seemed like 30. nice job on accomplishing a child hood dream.

Very nice. Though I remember the wheels having a weird metric size. I loved these as a kid.

I think the SVO and Merkur XR4Ti (which is a Ford Sierra XR4i) are on a similar platform.

EDIT: Same engine too (Lima) The turbocharged and intercooled 2.3 was used in the 1984-86 Mustang SVO, while the 1983-1984 Mustang TurboGT, 1985-89 Merkur XR4Ti, 1983-1986 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and 1984-1986 Mercury Cougar XR7 skipped the intercooler on their turbo versions.
