If it has no codes nor check engine light, how do you know it has a bad cat? Did you go aftermarket or oem?

I had my local muffler shop install an OEM cat on both occasions. When a cat goes bad sometimes it will start to rattle loudly. Mine was doing that when I had the first replacement installed. My muffler shop told me that if my car was running to rich (hot) that it would burn up the fiberglass in the cat causing the ceramic plates inside to rattle around. Its quite loud and annoying. If it is running too rich im not sure where to start looking. Its not flashing any codes and I recently cleaned my egr port due to a previous error code (EGR Innsuf. Lift detected). Once I cleaned the port and I also replaced the factory air filter with a K&N it started running alot better (more responsive) but it was still burning up cats.

Are you using tabby cats or another breed ?

The rattling might actually be a heating shielding down there, you could just have them remove it. I think you may be overreacting to the cats. Are you sure there aren't any other issues down there?

The ratteling is coming from inside the cats. Ive already checked the heat shield. The heat shield was the first thing I checked when the first one burned up.

Hmm, and your header/downpipe seem to be fine?

Yeah no, I was asking to see if maybe your header/dp are breaking up and sending parts into the cat. Less about noise from up there.
