i don't have a manual for a 96 handy, but i would follow the troubleshooting flow chart to test the coil and ignitor. also make sure you reattached all your grounds

What ecu did you use? You gotta use everything off the 96 obd2a if you wanna keep obd2a including distributor, injectors, ecu, etc. Did you make sure you connected all the plugs into the right spot using a wiring diagram? Did you change the harness going into the firewall also where it connects to the ecu? If not you gotta use an obd1 to obd2a harness to use the obd2a ecu.

yea i swapped the harness off the stock motor onto the new motor, including the oil pump with the sensor and the entire intake, so im still using the stock ecu etc...

you know you don't have to use the new distributer, you can you use all your old parts. but I'm guessing your not getting any spark because the your coil probably isn't blasting. make sure your harness isn't missing any prongs.

oh ok nevermind. You're using an older motor into a newer year and you swapped the harness and everything. Did the distributor work before you pulled the motor? I'd say do the tests on the distributor. Thats probably your problem. If you need help most libraries have the mitchell manual and you can photocopy the info on how to test the distributor and anything else on the car. It's the same manual used by the ASE certified mechanics not the crappy helms or chilton you get at kragen.

How are OBD1 parts gonna work on OBD2A harness and ecu?
