As the title states... Here's what I have:

97 ek hatch (obd2a car)
00 ex motor (obd2b)
00 ex motor harness (obd2b)
00 ex ecu (obd2b, think its a p2p)

my thoughts:
i could just get a 96-98 ex harness and ecu re-wire or use obd2a dizzy, also perform the ckf mod??

Not sure if this will work, but if somebody could just tell me the fastest and easiest way to get this car on the road, it would be appreciated.

 

You HAVE TO use a 96-98 harness - the entire chassis (engine dependent) is wired for it.
And...it has ckf already.

You can repin everything sure. Id just buy the right parts though.

just buy the v-tech ecu..and re pin the harnes....easy easy swap...

The harness is already on your car. They are a one piece right from the chasis. There is no plug where you can disconnect it to take out with the motor like those on the obd0 and OBD1 cars. You have to swap it in first, then plug in the harness to all the parts on the motor. A little more complicated, I know.

Keep in mind that (if I remembered correctly when doing my swap) you may want to get an obd2a distributor from a DX, CX, HX, basically any model besides the EX. Reason being, they changed over to making one distributor be compatible with all OBD2b (99-00) D series motor. That happens to be the bolt patterns on the DX, CX, etc...

On the other hand, the distributor plug on the OBD2b is different from the OBD2a and the OBD2b wire has one less wire from the OBD2a (blue wire). You can always get a plug from an OBD2a distributor and solder in the corresponding wire accordingly to the signal output, but that one missing wire is for your RPM. So you can still make it work, but your RPM won't be working.
