CEL code 43 "Fuel Supply System" on B18B swapped EG hatch
Hey all, Just looking for some input on my CEL code, so here's the background on it:
PLEASE READ THE WHOLE THING BEFORE YOU COMMENT
I have a 96 B18B1 in my 92 Civic CX, After installing it, I had no CEL codes *Car ran great, and still does* Drove it 4-5 times, no CEL's, pulls strong, runs strong.
After we de-greased my engine bay, I noticed that after maybe 5 min of driving, the CEL came on, and I checked the code to find it was code 43. (took it out again later that evening, and again, after 5 min, CEL comes on)
We checked all the contacts after de-greasing it, and it all looks clean, nothings loose etc.
I suspect I just didn't tighten down the bolt on the fuel rail tight enough, so it has a small leak possibly causing lower pressure causing the CEL to come on *Maybe just from driving it the first 5 times it vibrated a little loose or something random like that, or the car is just finally learning everything, so it threw the CEL now, and the degrease may have nothing to do with it*, the fuel pump is good, relay is good, car starts/runs/drives perfect still. Anything else it could be or I should check on?

Bump, tightened up the bolts on the fuel rail, checked all vac lines, cleaned PCV valve, and now it only turns the CEL on sometimes.
Specifically, once the light comes on, the cars idle bounces slowly from 300-600RPM.

try swapping in another oxygen sensor and see it the CEL doesnt come back. the O2 sensor is related to the fuel system. also check to see it there isnt any water in your spark plug holes.

I don't believe its the O2, because it would throw a code for the O2.
On a side-note, are all pre-cat O2 sensors the same from 92-00 on Civics and integras? I have a 4 wire O2 off my old D-series header laying around still.
I will take a look if some water got under the plug wire boots, but I'm pretty doubtful of that one throwing a 'fuel system' code.
Anyone ever had this code on there car?

here are some recent topics that suggest code 43 is most likely associated to the oxygen sensor:

Change your o2 sensor, I had the same problem. My car drove fine except I had poor gas milage and cel 43. Then I checked the o2 sensor the way it tells you to check it in the haynes manual. When I replaced it the car was back to normal.

aight guys i think my problem has been solved,, i unpluged the o2 sensor and replaced it with a new one and its not trowing the code anymore and it seems like im gettin better gas milage...so defenitely the o2 sensor was trowing the 43 cel code.. thanx

I wouldn't consider this as a "fixed" problem. The o2 sensor is there for a reason. It gives the ECU feedback on the current running condition of the engine. I highly doubt that unplugging your sensor not only fixed your problem, but is also giving you better gas milage

Thread from the dead!
yes, it was the O2 sensor.
Yes, all 4-wire O2's from 92-00 are the same for nearly all makes of 4 cylinder honda/acuras.
