Hey guys my helms manual just came in today, my diff and 4.9 FD ar sitting in my garage. I have also searched on H-T and found http://www.xm-parts.com/articles/hgear/gear.htm and https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1315063&page=2 but nowhere do can I find any discussion about checking the main shaft clearance. In the Helms manual they say you have to have a dial gauge and a main shaft holder.

Is this necessary??? And other than a gear and bearing puller is there any thing else tool wise I may need (specialty tool that is)?

Unless you're using a mainshaft from a different trans you are more than likely fine without checking it. 9/10 trannys I do are fine.

That's what I'm hearing so I'll see how the whole thing goes. I just want to get these things in before the TypeR Expo. I think alot of TypeR owners will be surprised to see me up their ***. 120WHP what what.. JK VIR is my home track and I know the FD and diff will really help.
