Transmission keeps revving even in Neutral. WTF.
I have a 97 civic with stock d16y7 engine and tranny. I was merging onto the freeway shifting from one gear to the next, when shifting from 4th gear to 5th gear my car starts to redline hard core. I put it in neutral and the car was still red lining. I am going to change the clutch on Thursday and I wanted to make sure that the clutch was the problem. My hatch is my DD so I need to get it up and running asap. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I thank you in advance.
I just got the car in Sept. started driving it in January and the car felt like clutch was going out. I checked the throttle cable to see if it was stuck and it seemed to fix the problem then when I started the car again and stepped on the gas the car kept revving and redlining. ?

clean your throttle body, clean the spring that your cable connects to, new cable. my dd civic did this because my cable was phucked. it was dry and snapped. try cleaning it a bit
thats a pretty nice hatch....its insane that the owner was about to drop the tranny to change the clutch, over the throttle getting stuck, lol
The TB plate inside could be sticking...I'd use carb cleaner on the inside, not WD-40. Check for cable binding check that the cable adjustment nut is tight against the IM bracket. GL on the trans drop! find someone to help yah with that.
