Default Do I have to lapp the valves?

I'd like to know if it's always necessary to lapp the valves in on a 97 prelude? The only reason I ask this is because the procedure is not mentioned in the Helms manual.
Thanks.

Yeah man, i would highly recommend it. Dont use one of the lame valve lappers (suction cups) to do it, make sure you have a good lapping compound and use an electric drill on the end of the valve instead. Use moderate pressure when pulling on it and clean everything up afterwards. You should be good after that. Been rebuilding honda engines for a long time and thats the best way to get any small pits or chips out of the valves and seat without grinding.
