Default Blew my rsx typr s motor and replaced it with a stock jdm k20a

After seeing what I thought to be a great deal on a type s motor. I looked at the engine code of the new motor today and saw that it was a k20a. I'm missing 40 horse, but I got a jdm motor? Should I be as pissed off as I am or are there possibilities with the jdm k20a that I don't know about? Please help lighten the mood. I did not buy this car to make it a show car!

I don't understand. So you are saying that the jdm k20a is faster than the usdm type s motor? it's not the 160 horsepower one?

Yes, K20A > K20A2.

Get a picture of the engine code and post it.

Answer this, did it come with a red valve cover? There are different types of JDM K20A motors. Lets make sure you really got the K20A type R motor.

you replaced the motor right?..so i'm guessing that you drove it already, then you should have definately felt a difference if its a k20a like you said and show us some pics to make sure its a real k20a.

Yeah he's right..The type-s in japan is pretty much equivilant to our base...but if you look at the comparison chart k20a is used for both sides meaning it's in both cars but the type r has 220 and the type s has 160

yea, I blew the motor with a "money" shift alright. Car was comming on to high way and I was going off. car slid right at me and as i was shifting , I hit second instead of fourth and hit 9400 rpm's at 73 mph according to acura in san diego, CA. I think it's funny how many people called me a newb and talked all this crap when all i did was ask for help from fellow enthusiasts. and the car is getting the motor put in right now. I saw the engine code when it was sitting on a pallete wrapped in plastic wrap. When the car is in my possession again, I will take pics. Though I don't see a reason to if it's base model. So I was right in the first place saying that I lost 40 horse then right? Is there at least something I can do while still having the type s tranny?

lol better off selling the tranny and finding a accord tranny and go turbo on that motor you are gonabe really unhappy with the performance of that engine.... type s tranny has a lil shorter gears...

so you guys are saying that the jdm motors go from 160 to 220? The base model there is the same as here? And the type s gears are not short considering they redline at like 8500. The sixth gear was almost useless. it WAS the car i was driving and own right now. I just figured I could run into someone on this site who could shoot me some specs, but now how do I know who to listen to. I had a room full of people talking smack and spitting guesstimates at me. If you actually throw some specs at me, can you please tell my your references or your street credibility. No offense, but considering the nature of the website, if you don't know, don't waste my time please. And for all the people saying post pics, check my bio and you cold see that I have a myspace that will have to do until I get my car back with new pics from the new engine. I'm not a noob, I just wanna to talk to fellow enthusiasts about a "new" area of hondas that I haven't dealt with. To the "true" enthusiasts out there, thank you!
p.s. I was a prelude guy before so...sorry, still honda and my dad has a s2k with injen intake and dc headers! Gonna get a honda tat this weekend! Will definitely show pics of that!! lol
