Default droping the Sol....how much

just bought a set of Tenzo Sho 4 17x7's with Kumho 712's.
my question is, what is a safe drop with a 17" rim that will alow good performance and no rubbing. pretty much asking for experience but personal opinions are always welcome.
oh, and I know 17's are a little bigger than what you guys like but remember I do live in Michigan and there isnt much to do out here but look good

Back in my darker days I had a 94 teg w/ 17" Enkeis. I didnt rub w/ an Eibach Prokit. Great for elliminating fender gap and firming up ride. BOut a 1.5 inch drop.

This is lowered (I don't remember how much, because I forgot to measure the before height!! ) w/17's. These rims were 7.5" wide w/205/40/17 tires, and rubbed the inner fender liner/sheet metal on full lock (or close to it). No problems with my 16 x 7" rim and 205/45/16 tires.

HTH!
