Obviously not, but with my recent hardtop install I've noticed that my cell phones are virtually unusable while in the car. I have Sprint and have experienced a T-Mobile phone as well. Haven't tried any other providers.Any other hardtop owners experience this as well? It seems to be the inbound audio that's not coming through. Outbound audio seems to be okay as the other party can hear me say "hello?" numerous times.
With the softtop, cell phone usage was fine. Very strange, I must say. Also very annoying at times.
This is what you do.
- Get a headset
- Plug it up
- Grab phone with left hand
- Stick arm out window
But on a serious note, I've never heard about this issue before.

Well, surprisingly this actually works. That's how I determined it was the hardtop. Also, if you stick your head out the window a bit, it also works better.

True, and I agree. But when your gf complains about it being:
Too cold
Too windy
Too hot
Too noisy
etc.....then the only thing you're NOT getting is the pu$$y. At least I like the way it looks, and it's functional half of the year where I live. Before the top, I was top down when it was over 30 degrees F. I actually have a "Top Always Down" sticker, which looks funny showing through the rear hardtop window.

I could....but then I'd have to pay for it. My company pays for mine.

You shouldn't be driving and talking on the phone; I wouldn't want friendly s2000 driver to crash. You could also run over some ones grandma. Drive safe!

I know! It's now a primary pull-over-able offense in NJ now too. My gf insists on calling me all the time when I'm on the road. Not only can I not hear anything in the car before, now with the lead hardtop, I get no audio. I hate talking on the phone.

I have one, but I'm worried that it will perform the same as my Bluetooth enabled phone in terms of audio. Maybe the reception will be fine, but the car is just too loud.

Sprint ftw!
Perhaps its not your service but the device, or just in your head? Try switching it to roaming and see what happens. If they can hear you and your have service, you should be hearing them.

It is defineatly the service...i have had multiple phones. The only way i can get service is if i switch to roaming.

Weird. How do I switch to Roaming? I have the Blackberry 8830 World Edition.
If I go to Manage Connections, I see the following:
Turn All Connections Off (On/Off selection)
Mobile Network (Sprint PCS, not changeable)
Bluetooth (turned off)
Services Status (I can check the status of the mobile network)
Set Up Bluetooth (I don't use this)
Moble Network Options (see below *)
Bluetooth Options
* Data Services (I can turn on/off)
Mobile Network (Sprint PCS, can't seem to change, but I can "start provisioning" or do a "diagnostics test")
Network Selection mode (Automatic/Home Only, currently set to Automatic)
Network Mode (GSM/1XEV/Global, currently set on 1XEV)
Thanks!
