Swap K20A3 Civic Si Engine into a 1994 Accord EX Auto??
This swap will be years off but I was just wondering if this was possible; ease of swap; what parts; and is it worth it. The reason I'm asking is because I currently have a '03 EP3 and in the future, when funds are available, I'll try to get a JDM K20A swapped in... That will leave the K20A3 free to use for my fiance's car, the '94 Accord, which will become my second project car at the same time. I know what cars I can fall back on for this swap but I'm focused on the Accord right pnow. I'm saying this will be a pretty long ways off because I'm working full-time, having a kid, and going to school during the nights. So you can see I'm living the "American Bad Dream"... Heh. So once again I'm looking for some great input; I know I'll get it here!!!
Thanx Peoples!!

have you done any research on this swap? I know it's been discussed before.
HASport makes a mount kit I believe.
I don't know what is all involved in the swap.
Being worth it is up to you.
IIRC, Sport Compact Car did a feature on a K20 swapped 94-97 Accord.

I haven't done an extensive researchon the topic yet... I've been pondering this subject for the past wek and decided to ask a few basic questions before I get really into the notion of this swap... Any help or points in the right direction would be helpful... I noticed that the curb weight differences between the two cars are pretty noticable... the EP3 having approx. 2750 lbs.; and the CD6 has approx. 3075 lbs. So I'm not certain if that will be too much of a performance strength issue too look at also.
Here is the mount kit description from Hasport.
CD K-Series Mount Kit [CDK1]
Engine mount kit for the K-Series (with TSX or Accord Transmission) into the 94-97 Honda Accord.
-Will Fit with the US Accord K24A4, Element K24A4, TSX K24A2 and the Euro Accord K20A or K24A along with a US 03+ Accord, TSX or Euro Accord manual transmission.
-Designed using sophisticated CAD/CAM engineering software, these mounts provide the utmost in strength and proper fit.
-Using aircraft quality aluminum Hasport mounts come with a lifetime warranty.
-This mount kit is available with different polyurethane inserts. The most common and softest is the street, followed by the race for track cars, and extreme race.
So it sounds like you could run a K20A3 but would need the tranny off a US 03+ Accord, TSX or Euro Accord manual transmission

you will need to cut out/remove the pass. side tranny mount and weld in the new K-series mount on top and forward just behind where the OE battery tray would be.
Sorry but this swap isnt IMO worth it....just think you are Cutting away a mount, and welding in a new one....no more cheap f series motors for backups just incase....and you can only swap in k motors after the mount has been installed....and if the K20 ever needs replaced the cheapest k you'll find is the K24A4....and its pushing just a little more power than a solidly built f22b minus the torque issue....just not worth it IMO for a DD.

Better off with an H22. I really don't see how the A3 will be much of an improvement. The a2 or K20a, definately. But swapping an K20a3 in seems like a waste of time.
Trending Topics
The A3 is seeing some legit numbers with some of the new cams that have been coming out. But a k24 is more designed for the Accord platform
Thanx guys for all your input. I guess it isn't the best thing to do for the car. I guess I'll look into getting myself an EG civic and doing the swap on that, or sell off the engine when I do extract it from the engine bay.(Whenever that is!! LOL) Well, that takes care of that inkling ponderance. You guys were great help!!
