CEL off and on
i have a intake and catback and i get a CEL for about 1-2days then it goes off for about a week and then it comes back on for 1-2days and soo on and so forth. can anyone give me any ideas of what might be the cause.
Is it an AEM intake by chance? What type of cat back do you have? Which civic are you driving? You need to give a little more information for anyone to help you.

LOL
You need to find out what the code is. Did you use a wet or dry filter when you did your mod to the SRI? I've heard of wet filters fouling the MAF, but I've never experienced this myself. First you need to know the code though before we all start speculating on what the problem is

thanks. well i just got home and got it done. it read that a P0172. it said that bank 1 was reading cycl 1 as being rich. said that car was running rich possible things to fix or whatever was MAF, Oxygen sensor defect, fuel injectors. since i moved the filter closer to the MAF i decided to bump it out more which i did and drove around and so far no CEL so hopefully it wont come on and if it does then IDK. But after i put my heaer on and get the defouler ill look at the Oxy sensor to see if it looks bad.

Theres a CEL eliminator you can get which gets rid of the CEL because of the Headers. It still reads when something is really wrong with the engine.
In case you dont want to go with the Defouler route.

since ive been looking at headers i found out that the BCRH is onsale for like 750.
EDIT since i restarted the battary the CEL hasn' come on. If it comes on im gonna replace the spark plugs. also how many o2 sensors do we have.

My mechanics at Dynospot Racing replaced my O2 sensor with a "Wideband O2 Sensor" (that is all it said on the invoice), when they installed my AEM CAI. I have never gotten a CEL with any of the mods I have installed. If you want, I can ask them what they used.
Let me know

Doesn't the car come from the factory with a 5 wire wideband? It wasn't added for a gauge was it?

Good question, I will ask. I don't do any of the engine work on my car myself, so I really don't know. I will find out. I was going to call them anyway to see if they had heard anything new on the New Fuel Tuning application that Hondata is working on.
