speedsensor quit working...i switched it out with another one and it still will not wrk. any ideas please.......cause no vtech=

 

i didnt know that the speed sensor had anything to do with VTEC
so my **** aint workin either now... damn..
r u sure? cuz i swear my vtec works even with a bad speed sensor..
but anyway im bout to go roll a blizzy and smoke out my civic..

 

replace the plug on your harness
it happened to me
replaced the VSS 3 times cluster once and ended up being the plug
found mine on e-bay with a sensor for $25
**** the cluster was $75

do u mean replacing the speed sensor plug? cause mine's not working either and i've tried switching speed sensor as well, look for blown fuse or bad alternator and it wasn't the problem. i guess i'll try to change the plugs, what could be wrong with the plugs though, it looks good.

 

ya the plugs don't do a good job of holding the female plug in the correct position for whatever reason. so when they are plugged in they don't "plug in" but simply slide beside the female connector. that is why sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't. now yall this might not be your exact problem but it was my problem. so don't come back bitching that it didn't fix it. but simply something yall should check on.

for me, it was the plug like 95jeremie said. so mine's working good now. but other idea why people's don't work is because either their fuse is dead or alternator is not working.

When all you guys say that your speed isn't working due to vss or vss plug being fcuked up, what does your speedometer read? ZERO? Or is it stuck on a certain spot. My **** is stuck on 15, changed out the VSS also and no worky. I'm not gonna go buy me a $100 96 CIVIC EX cluster and then find out that was not the problem. Let me know what your cluster needle was on when you stated that it isn't working... .thanks guys!!

 

mine was stuck on zero, if urs is stuck on 15, the it's ur cluster man. something is wrong with ur mph cluster. maybe the motor's out or maybe the needle's just stuck. take ur cluster out and take the plastic piece that is covering ur cluster off. then try to move the needle back to zero, and try to see if it works. if it doesn't i would say it's ur cluster. i mean why would a cluster just stays at 15mph and get stuck there?

 

ya replace the cluster and go from there
that sounds like the problem.
i wouldn't go removing the needle on your old one... it will throw the calibration way off.
so you will think that the problem is fixed but your going 3 MPH over what it's reading or whatever.
just replace it and report back
