Default Modify existing audio console vs. adding integra console?

Obviously, it's the lack of cup holders that is the most frustrating is my '88 civic!!! I got some pictures to illustrate my thought. If you have to separate the ashtray and cigarette lighter from the existing audio console to do the mod...

Then, why not do something custom under the radio instead of installing the Integra Console? Using something like this (below) - like creating another DIN location or something???

I guess the Integra console works, but what do you think about doing something custom without having to buy the Integra console? Any thoughts? Anyone tried something like this???

And by the way, I have a 4runner that I am changing the console for the same reason (cup holders) but there is a vast amount of great info I can find on it. I just cannot seem to find all the great pics and info on this mod. I was just wondering about doing something else since the integra console doesn't exactly line up. That bothers me but if it's the best thing to do, that's what I'll do.

I dont advocate this modification, unless things match up correctly. To do this correctly you must locate the audio console for your color of interior. They can be difficult to locate for colors other than black, but are findable.

what color is your interior.

I just saw a blue civic audio console from canada sell for 50 bucks. looked clean as hell.

Ebay for some of these things.
