i have a 95 turbo civc with a d16. check engine light is on and the car will not rev past 3500rpm, it is acting like a limiter. can still be drivin but runs like its not getting good spark. it has a weak low idle. Please give me any suggestions.

 

distributer was recently replaced with msd cap and rotor and since this problem began i have checked plugs, wires and coil and everything seems to be fine.

 

what code is it throwing???

 

try the basic reseting the ecu

 

Yeah check what code it is throwing. It is definitely a major one that is setting the ECU to go into "limp home" mode, hence the rev limiting and the poor performance.

 

ya what code are you throwing? it might be a vtec code check your oil level.

I had the same problem acts like no power and cuts out. Pull the cat off if you have on and see if that fixes it. I have a 2000 civic ex with a gsr swap and it clogged the cat after 1500 miles
