10 seconds is a bit much, my old car it would only stay on for like a second after the fired up. Maybe your having problems building up oil pressure?

Might be the oil pressure. Id you have a dent in your oil pan, will that cause the light to go on?

i think the oil pan is a bit dented but not that much, and it stays on maybe 5 6 seconds not 10, but today it flashed which i had never seen before, thats only one of the many problems this car has............O2 sensor is bad, ABS sensor is bad, it does not go past 4000RPM it just chokes and goes no where but anyways, the oil light is the newest problem, how do i test for oil pressure???

Get the other problems fixed asap. You can get an electric oil pressure gauge. The oil pressure sensor behind the block likes to take craps so it might be a faulty sensor.

If you say the oil pan is a bit dented, then I believe that's why your oil pressure is going to be off.
