One of my belts are squeaking on my car so i figured i needed to tighten my altinator belt? the squeak goes away after it warms up, somtimes... So i loosend the nut by the power steering and then tighted the wing nut on top. then tightend the nut back down. I did this about three times and it still squeaks. Am i adjusting the wrong belt? or is there somwhere else i can adjust it that wil work better? lmk thx

 

Maybe the belt is too tight? IDK or time for a new belt?

 

well if that belt is tight then maybe you should try your other belts guessing you have a/c and p/s , that wing nut only tightens p/s , what kinda car do you have?

 

If your belts are going out try pouring water on them. If they stop squealing then you found the belt.

 

i have this same sqeaking problem and i believe it is my a/c idler pulley...
when it's sqealing put your ears in between the power steering and water pump area and if you hear it on your left side then you have the same problem as me

 

I have a 94 acura integra...and if the wing nut only tightens power streering then where do you tighten the other ones?
